This past week my Family and I went on vacation to Hilton Head, South Carolina. I was taken back to my east coast roots (I’m from Philly!) and reminded me why I fell in love with architecture and interior design.
What is East Coast Interior Style?
East Coast interior design style is rooted in timeless elegance, blending classic architectural elements with a comfortable, coastal sensibility. It draws heavily from traditional design—think crown molding, symmetrical layouts, and refined furniture silhouettes—while incorporating coastal influences like light, airy palettes, natural textures, and seaside-inspired details. This style often balances sophistication with approachability, using layered textiles, antique or heirloom pieces, and a mix of refined and rustic materials to create spaces that feel curated yet inviting. Whether inspired by New England charm or the breezy Hamptons, East Coast design celebrates heritage, craftsmanship, and understated luxury.
I find East Coast design style to have an effortless look, the energy feels easy and relaxing. It’s also timeless, you don’t need to worry about your renovation or remodel investment being outdated 5 years from now. And you can easily blend the timeless aesthetic of the east coast style with some more modern pieces and elements.
So, I am now on a mission to bring more of that East Coast style out here to Colorado. I’ve collected a round-up of some of the most elegantly, effortlessly beautiful East Coast designed interiors that have greatly influenced my own work and style.
